talks with Dr. Steven Diner Provost of the Rutgers-Newark
Campus. They discuss critical issues facing the world of
higher education including the important role diversity
plays on campus and in the classroom, the school’s
part in the revitalization efforts taking place in Newark
and its integration with the community, the surge in demand
for on-campus housing, and what the future holds for the
world of higher education. The provost is the chief executive
officer for Rutgers-Newark, and directs all operations for
the campus, which includes seven undergraduate and graduate
colleges, 10,500 students, 500 full-time faculty and 1100
full-time staff members.
