Program

Families and Finance: Facing Fifty

Description

This Families in Focus special explores some of the unique, and often difficult financial challenges facing members of the Baby Boomer generation (1946-1964). Saving for retirement, paying for a child's education, dealing with divorce and caring for aging parents are just a few of the pressures that confront individuals in this age group. On this program, we'll look at how Baby Boomers can plan for their futures and for the financial needs of their families and offer practical guidance on the financial challenges Baby Boomers face. We'll also explore what resources are available to help them.

The the first half of the program begins with a mini-documentary featuring the Priddy's, who with the help of their financial planner Paul Gomperz, is planning for retirement while balancing the financial demands of owning their own home and business and planning a child's education. And all this in the wake of a slowing economy and turbulent stock market.
