About Steve Adubato

Steve Adubato, Ph.D., has enjoyed a distinguished career as a broadcaster, author and motivational speaker. A university lecturer, Emmy Award-winning television anchor, and Star-Ledger columnist, Steve also served in the mid 1980s as New Jersey's youngest state legislator at age 26.
Steve currently anchors three PBS broadcasts — Caucus: New Jersey, an Emmy Award-winning public affairs television series; NJ Capitol Report, a news program covering New Jersey political issues on a weekly basis; and One-on-One with Steve Adubato, a compelling program giving insight into today's world through interviews with actors, authors, journalists, CEOs, artists and educational innovators who each share their experiences and accomplishments. Steve also conducts in-depth interviews for NJ Today, which airs weeknights on the new NJTV and covers news, politics and policy from across the state.
These series reach more than 10 million viewers in six states (NJ, NY CT, PA, DE, MD) through a variety of television outlets including PBS stations THIRTEEN (the New York flagship station), WLIW (Long Island's PBS affiliate), WHYY-TV 12 (the Philadelphia affiliate), WLIW WORLD, and the new NJTV. CEC programming also airs on FiOS1 and on TCN-The Comcast Network.
Steve has been the recipient of four prestigious Emmy Awards for his work on public television. In 1995, 2000 and again in 2001, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Steve with Emmy Awards in the category of "Best Host."
In addition to his work on public television, Steve regularly appears on the TODAY Show, CNN, FOX News, FOX 5 in New York and CNBC as a media and communication analyst. He has also provided expert on-air commentary for NPR—National Public Radio. Steve currently provides political commentary on 77-WABC, the #1 talk radio station in the country, as well as WOR-710 AM and has hosted on both networks.
In 1999, Steve Adubato, Ph.D. founded Stand & Deliver: Communication Tools for Tomorrow's Leaders. The Stand & Deliver program provides communication and leadership skills training to young people in the Greater Newark Area. Topics covered in the program include leadership and team building; peace-making activities; presentation skills; interviewing techniques; conflict resolution, youth advocacy; listening skills; and overall communication effectiveness. Annually, the Stand & Deliver program provides over 500 young adults with the tools they need to become better citizens and to more effectively compete for and succeed in future employment.
Steve writes a weekly column for The Star-Ledger focusing on communication and lead¬ership, which reaches over 1 million readers. He is a syndicated columnist, and contributes to New Jersey Monthly, the Atlantic City Press and The Record.
In addition to his career as a broadcast journalist, Dr. Adubato is a Rutgers University visiting lecturer with a Ph.D. from Rutgers in the field of mass communication and a Masters from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers. He is also a "distinguished visiting professor" at Montclair State University in the field of broadcast journalism. Dr. Adubato's research and writing has focused on the role of the media in American society and the current state of journalism.
Most recently, New Jersey Monthly magazine named Steve one of the top five most powerful media figures in the state. In the past, New Jersey Monthly selected Steve as one of the "50 Most Interesting People" in the state as well as one of the "25 Most Influential People in New Jersey."
Additionally, Steve is the president of Stand & Deliver: Make the Connection, which is a dynamic, hands-on professional development and executive coaching program Steve created to help today's professionals reach their potential as leaders. Steve conducts communication workshops, seminars and keynote speeches on such topics as presentation skills, leadership and team building, customer service and dealing with the media.
Finally, Steve is the author of the books, Speak from the Heart: Be Yourself and Get Results (Simon & Schuster), which was featured in Fortune Magazine, as well as Make the Connection: Improve Your Communication at Work and at Home and What Were They Thinking? Crisis Communication: The good, the bad and the totally clueless, both published by Rutgers University Press. His fourth book is entitled You Are the Brand and examines the brand strategies of over thirty individuals and companies.
