Steve Adubato, Ph.D., has enjoyed a distinguished career as a broadcaster, author and motivational speaker.  A university lecturer, Emmy Award-winning television anchor, and Star-Ledger columnist, Steve also served in the mid 1980s as New Jersey's youngest state legislator at age 26.

Steve currently anchors two Channel Thirteen/WNET (PBS) broadcasts — Caucus: New Jersey, an Emmy Award-winning public affairs television series, also broadcast on NJN-Public Television; and Inside Trenton, a news program covering New Jersey political issues on a weekly basis. He is also the executive producer and host of One-on-One with Steve Adubato, an in-depth interview program broadcast from Maine to Virginia, including Washington D.C., on CN8-the Comcast Network and Cablevision. 

Steve has been the recipient of four prestigious Emmy Awards for his work on public television. In 1995, 2000 and again in 2001, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented Steve with Emmy Awards in the category of “Best Host.”

In addition to his work on public television, Steve is a media expert and columnist for MSNBC.com, who has appeared on the TODAY Show, MSNBC, CNBC, CBS/2 and the FOX News Channel as a media and communication analyst.  Steve currently provides political commentary on 77-WABC, the #1 talk radio station in the country, as well as WOR-710 AM and has hosted on both networks.  Most recently, Steve contributes on a regular basis to CBS 2 “Sunday Morning” and provides political commentary to “Steve Adubato...on Politics” on the CBS 2 Web site.

In 1999, Steve Adubato, Ph.D. founded Stand & Deliver: Communication Tools for Tomorrow’s Leaders. The Stand & Deliver program provides communication and leadership skills training to young people in the Greater Newark Area. Topics covered in the program include leadership and team building; peace-making activities; presentation skills; interviewing techniques; conflict resolution, youth advocacy; listening skills; and overall communication effectiveness. Annually, the Stand & Deliver program provides over 400 young adults with the tools they need to become better citizens and to more effectively compete for and succeed in future employment.

Steve writes a weekly column for The Star-Ledgerfocusing on communication and lead­ership, which reaches over 1 million readers. He is a syndicated columnist, and contributes to New Jersey Monthly, the Atlantic City Press, and NJBIZ.

In addition to his career as a broadcast journalist, Dr. Adubato is a Rutgers University visiting lecturer with a Ph.D. from Rutgers in the field of mass communication and a Masters from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers.  He is also a “distinguished visiting professor” at Montclair State University in the field of broadcast journalism.  Dr. Adubato’s research and writing has focused on the role of the media in American society and the current state of journalism. 

Steve is also involved in a variety of charity and community-oriented initiatives. He currently serves on the following boards: Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation, North Ward Center, American Heart Association and Columbus Hospital Foundation.

Most recently, New Jersey Monthly magazine named Steve one of the top five most powerful media figures in the state.  In the past, New Jersey Monthly selected Steve as one of the “50 Most Interesting People” in the state as well as one of the “25 Most Influential People in New Jersey.” 

Additionally, Steve is the president of Stand & Deliver: Make the Connection, which is a dynamic, hands-on professional development and executive coaching program Steve created to help today’s professionals reach their potential as leaders. Steve conducts communication workshops, seminars and keynote speeches on such topics as presentation skills, leadership and team building, customer service and dealing with the media. Stand & Deliver clients in the corporate and non-profit sectors include Wachovia, Prudential, UBS PaineWebber, J.H. Cohn, Merrill Lynch, NASA, Horizon BC/BS, Johnson & Johnson and the Port Authority of NY & NJ.

Steve is the author of two books, Speak from the Heart: Be Yourself and Get Results (Simon & Schuster), which was featured in Fortune Magazine, as well as Make the Connection: Improve Your Communication at Work and at Home (Rutgers University Press). His third book titled “What Were They Thinking?” will examine highly-publicized and often controversial public relations and media mishaps.
